Shampoo Active Intelligence

Know What Is
Cleansing Your Scalp.

Not all shampoos are the same. Some carry medicated actives. Some simply cleanse gently. Some are for periodic reset. This guide separates each category so you know what you are applying — and why.

Treatment vs Maintenance — what is the difference?

A treatment shampoo (ketoconazole, zinc, selenium) carries a scalp-active ingredient and is used as directed — often 2–3× per week, not every wash. A maintenance shampoo is your gentler everyday cleanser used on non-treatment days. Your consultation recommends both where relevant.

When cosmetic shampoo is not enough

Persistent thick scaling, scalp pain, bleeding, crusting, open wounds, scarring or hair loss that does not respond to over-the-counter shampoo after 4–6 weeks should be evaluated by a qualified dermatologist. Some conditions require prescription-strength treatments that are not available in cosmetic shampoo formats.

"The right shampoo starts with understanding your scalp, not your hair length. Scalp condition, wash frequency, water quality and current treatments all determine what will work."

Your Shampoo Profile

Based on your scalp behaviour, wash frequency, hair condition, sensitivities and current routine, these generic shampoo categories appear most compatible with your profile.

Treatment + Maintenance System

Your scalp may benefit from both an active treatment shampoo and a gentler maintenance cleanser. Use the treatment wash as directed on the label — not necessarily every wash.

Your Suggested Wash Strategy

These recommendations represent cosmetic shampoo-category guidance based on your stated profile. They do not diagnose or treat any scalp condition. Stop use if significant irritation occurs. Consult a qualified dermatologist for persistent, painful or rapidly worsening scalp symptoms.

Very few shampoos match your preferences

Your combination of exclusions is quite specific. A fragrance-minimised gentle shampoo may be the safest neutral starting profile. Try relaxing one exclusion or consult Dr. Amit.
